Ionospheric Scintillations

Monitoring in Bahir Dar

E-mail Print

The scintillation parameters recorded by our station in Bahir Dar can be viewed here (or click on the map).

positionBahirDar

Bahir Dar is located in a region with high ionospheric scintillation activity, around the magnetic equator (the +/-20° magnetic latitude lines are also plotted on the map).

This panoramic view from the station shows that its signal reception is mostly unobstructed.

The setup has been first tested in our office (see "IEEA's Scintillation Station"). It is based on a GSV4004B GISTM (GPS Ionospheric Scintillation & TEC Monitor).

It was then sent to his final location (see "IEEA's Scintillation Station in Bahir Dar"), where it is hosted by Bahir Dar University.
